The latest 'Ratchet and Clank' trailer shows the game is departing from guns and moving back to platforming with a distinct change of feel from serious/cartoon to just plain fun. It is every bit the Pixar adventure as it is a great game, from witty dialogue to colourful art style this game has it all.
There is also a nice touch of sentiment, James Westbrook who featured in Extreme Makeover is a boy who was paralyzed in a car crash. He will feature as a playable character in 'Tools of Destruction'.

Embedded/Downloadable HD
For those unsure the trailer is 100% real-time in-engine footage.
*** SPOILERS AHEAD ***
In 'Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction' Ratchet goes back to discover the roots of his species (Lombaxes) as he fights Tachyon the emperor of the Cragmites that had previously fought and lost against the Lombaxes in an ancient war.
Graphically the game speaks for itself, it looks like a Pixar movie tip to tip, from fluid animations to colourful high resolution graphics it could hold its own.

Looks like a whole bunch of pre-rendered footage with the odd bit of gameplay to me... I'm looking forward to it, but I think it's a bit of a stretch to say it's "like playing a Pixar movie" based on this trailer.
None of that was pre-rendered--Ratchet and Clank really is turning out to be a beautiful game.
It looks like Sonic, nothing more. I can't see anything really creative and new there.
so i'm wondering if they're taking out some weapons. personally i always enjoyed having the vast amount of weapons to choose from while fighting. well either way the game looks great
I don't think you guys are understanding...
100% of the footage in the official trailer is created in real time using the same engine as the game.
Therefore, It will look consistently kick ass all the way through.
Just because something is "in engine" it doesn't mean the actual gameplay will look the same. In engine cut-scenes and cinematics often have various filters, effects, and animation that the actual gameplay portions do not. Since the player is not actually playing the cut-scenes, the engine does not have to render as much information so it looks a lot better.
"It's all in engine/game" is one of the biggest video game myths of all time. It's still a cut-scene and it looks better than the actual game.
With this said, I cannot wait to play this. It looks beautiful, and it looks like it plays well.

Wow are you jaded the difference between an in engine cutscene and gameplay is so small that anyone making the claim that while cutscenes look great the ingame graphics are going to be sub par looks rather foolish.
There is ingame footage up at Gametrailers and it looks fantastic and in my opinion the parts of this game where the characters are fighting running looks far better than this trailer.
Fight, blast, kill, destroy... we've had enough of that stuff in games. Should all games have the same (low) ideas, without any other part of the brain involved ? The Wii have proved that many people actually want some fun without expressing the killer in them.
take a look at the other screenshots. this is all in game and very very nice.
Wii fanboys & Xbots alike. Give it up. Nobody wants to know about how much something looks "stupid" or "incredibly violent". As A PS3 owner i have no qualms with other systems. If you want one so bad just keep saving your allowance, or maybe Dad can get you one for christmas.
Ahahahaha of course the quality of the cutscenes will but better than real-time in-game action. And noticeably, as well. Looks great anyways but don't try to pass off bad information that you should know is wrong by now.
Can't wait to play it.
The cutscenes ARE realtime.
Must... have... game!!! Sony should give Insomniac a commission, because I'm going to buy a PS3 unit the same day this game is released, along with the only other PS3 game that interests me: Resistance. And, yes, it DOES look like a great movie/game.
